Were me and my friends wrong for making fun of this girl ?

so there is this girl named marykate she started drama with us by talking about us behind our backs and writting nasty letters about us. so in class (after we finish our work) she were saying things like ewwww look at the dirty piece of crap she is so ugly and stupid whore an we said it loud and clear for her to hear....do you think we were wrong ??
